DEVON BANK LAUNCHES THE EARTH EARNS DEBIT CARD
CHICAGO, IL — Today, Devon Bank joins millions of people around the world to observe Earth Day. Never has care for our environment been more critical. We are in the midst of one of the largest mass extinctions of plant and animal species of the last half-billion years, with literally, on average, a dozen species every day going extinct. According to NASA climate data, five of the warmest years ever recorded have all taken place since 2010. The time to act to help our planet is NOW, and we must ALL do our part.
To commemorate Earth Day, and to work with our customers to act on behalf of the planet, Devon Bank is launching The Earth Earns Debit Card, one of a series of “Well-Rounded™” charitable debit card products being introduced by the Bank. Swipe your debit card (or use “wallet pay” technology such as Apple Pay or Google Wallet), the transaction gets rounded-up to the nearest dollar, the rounded up amount gets donated to support environmental causes, you get the tax benefits allowed by law, and The Earth Earns! While reducing needless consumerism is best for the future of the environment– and your financial future– for needed purchases, with every use of your debit card, you are seamlessly producing an environmental offset.
These Well-Rounded debit cards are a part of Devon Bank’s “philanthropy management” suite of products that seek to lower barriers to the support of community needs. The Well-Rounded debit cards provide customers a seamless way to make charitable contributions with purchases they make, supporting a variety of causes, and the Bank can “private-label” the technology for specific charities as well. For larger charitable inclinations, during your lifetime or as a legacy continuing after, we can also offer donor-advised funds in conjunction with The Loundy Charitable Foundation.
